Clyde Caruana is a Maltese economist and has served as Minister for Finance since November 2020.  

Early in his career, he worked at Malta’s National Statistics Office (2007–2012).  

From 2014 until his ministerial appointment, Caruana was Executive Chairman of Jobsplus, the national agency for employment and training. In that role he authored and pushed forward several social policy reforms, notably around in-work benefits and free childcare.  Before that, he served as Mayor of Żabbar (2006-2009).

In addition to his political and administrative roles, Caruana lectures in Economics at the University of Malta, contributing research and policy work on welfare, labour markets, and the effectiveness of social safety nets.
