In order to assist couples who, get married or enter into a civil union the Ministry for Finance has issued a scheme, whereby eligible applicants may apply for a grant on the expenditure incurred on the supply of goods and services relating to their wedding/civil union ceremony as listed in the ‘First Schedule’ attached to the Government notice, which function is performed in Malta.

In order to further promote local talent in the musical field, the Minister for Finance has issued a scheme, whereby eligible applicants may apply for a once only grant of 15.25% on the purchase price of a musical instrument as listed in the Government Notice, subject to a maximum grant of €465.87.

As a result of the consultation process undertaken by Government regarding the implementation of the education reforms and with a view to assist Church and Independent Schools to introduce these reforms, thus ensuring that all students can benefit from the changes taking place, the Minister for Finance, together with the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation have launched a scheme that aims to assist Church and Independent Schools with regards to capital expenditure related to such reforms in the interests of national educational development, so that learners in these schools may also benefit from the highest quality of educational environment.
Applications forms, including the documents that are to be submitted with the application, shall be submitted/addressed to the Grant Scheme to Church and Independent Schools, Office of the Director General, Directorate for Quality and Standards in Education, (DQSE) Level 1, Joseph Abela Scolaro Street, Hamrun, HMR 1304.
In order to encourage the use of bicycles and pedelec bicycles as means of transport that reduce both pollution and traffic and at the same time encourage physical activity, the Minister for Finance has made this scheme whereby a once-only grant of 15.25% on the purchase price of the bicycle, subject to a maximum grant of €85 in the case of a non-mechanised bicycle and a maximum grant of €250 in the case of a pedelec bicycle, is granted to eligible applicants.
In order to encourage the use of clean means of transport while, at the same time, encouraging physical exercise, the Minister for Finance has launched a scheme, whereby companies who have purchased a bicycle or pedelec bicycles and that offers such bicycles for hire may apply for a grant of 15.25% on the purchase price of bicycles subject to a maximum grant of €85 per non-mechanised bicycle and a maximum grant of €250 for a pedelec bicycle. This up to a capping of €7,500 per applicant.
In order for the Government to assist persons with disability that need to purchase special equipment required to live an independent life, the Ministry for Finance issued a scheme, whereby eligible applicants may apply for a grant for expenditure that is incurred on the purchase price of the special equipment, as per applicable rates enclosed in the Government Notice reproduced hereunder.

The Ministry for Finance notifies that equipment ‘Customisation of vehicles, including hand controls and moveable seats’ shall, no longer be an eligible expenditure through the grant.Applications for this equipment can however be made through the ‘Scheme for Exemptions/Reductions/Grants Related to Motor Vehicles for Persons with Disability’.
In order to incentivise the use of alternative green means of transport while, at the same time, encouraging physical exercise and a healthier lifestyle the Minister for Finance has set up a fund to cover the expenditure incurred by local councils and enterprises to install bicycle racks and ancillary facilities.
Local councils and enterprises can apply for funds by submitting the application form after having consulted the applicable guidelines and submitted the relevant application form to the Board for the Bicycle Rack Fund.
The Ministry for Finance has launched the following grant scheme, that will reimburse eligible expenditure that is incurred by the applicant related to the restoration and finishing of privately owned residential properties within Urban Conservation Areas (UCAs), properties that have been built for more than 20 years and have been vacant for more than seven years, and new properties that are developed in conformity with approved criteria as defined by the established guidelines and approved by the Board appointed by the Minister responsible for finance.
Between the 1st of January 2025 and the 31st of December 2026, eligible applicants may apply only once for each property for a grant of 18% and/or 10%, where applicable, on the costs of restoration and finishing up to an aggregate maximum of €54,000 for each property.
